The main objectives of the Centre for Bioinformatics and Systems Biology (CBSB) are:

1. Coordinate the strategic development of Bioinformatics and Systems Biology across Sudan, Africa and beyond;
2. Develop new collaborative projects within and outside Sudan, particularly those that are multi-disciplinary;
3. Contribute to a broad view of Bioinformatics and Systems Biology including the development of links with areas such as statistical genetics, Cheminformatics and health informatics;
4. Develop and draft a strategic plan for the provision of teaching, training and capacity building in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology;
5. Organise seminar programs, workshops and conferences on Bioinformatics and Systems Biology;
6. Disseminate relevant software, databases and information to Sudanese and world scientific communities, both academic and industrial;
7. Facilitate the provision of state-of-the-art Bioinformatics and Systems Biology support to members of genomics and biomedical research community by directing the Bioinformatics Support Services;
